Project Manager

Department: juwi Renewable Energy Pty Ltd 

Title of position: Project Manager

Objectives: The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful closure and execution of EPC(M) and O&M contracts for utility solar PV projects in Australia. He/she will be responsible for project management from inception to handover, including full responsibility for budget & timelines, cost, quality, contracts, engineering, integration, HSE, construction, commissioning and stakeholder management within a matrix organization part of the Asia Pacific region.

Start date: as soon as possible

Location: Brisbane

Primary responsibilities:

•    Accountable for the successful outcome of solar PV EPC(M) projects from financial close through commissioning, energisation and handover;
•    Formal project management of EPC(M), Supplier and Sub-contracts including engineering, commercial and stakeholder aspects;
•    Reporting to the Head of Operations APAC, the Project Manager will manage a the project team (matrix structure) and work with Business Development, Construction Management, Engineering, Consultants, Customers and local authorities to ensure financial close and compliant project execution;
•    Manage and report on progress – scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, HSE, contracts etc.;
•    Implement, improve and maintain project management guidelines, processes, tools and procedures to ensure a structured project execution approach, minimize project risk and maximize performance;
•    Responsible for achieving contractual milestones and management of liquidity, schedule, costs as per EPC(M) contracts and project baselines;
•    Ensure full compliance with the QHSE regulations, legislation, standards, codes and requirements in Australia;
•    Support Business Development team with preparation and evaluation of offers and bids;
•    Securing of environmental, grid connection and construction permits;
•    Supporting the EPC(M) contract negotiation;
•    Lead supply/ sub-contract  negotiation, contract preparation, execution and management;
•    Primary interface to investors and customers following EPC(M) contract closure;
•    Responsible for Handover to the customer and Operations & Maintenance team;

Candidate requirements

juwi is looking for the following attributes:
•    An engineering, natural science or environmental planning degree or equivalent qualification;
•    At least 5 years of successful project management track record in the Australian power, energy or construction industry;
•    Proven track record of managing complex proprietary or standard form contracts;
•    Strong negotiation, excellent communication skills and successful at relationship building across a broad range of levels;
•    Proven track record of managing and motivating project teams in a matrix organizational structure;
•    Team player with exceptional communication skills, a self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for renewable energies;
•    Ability to work autonomously and efficiently under pressure, with the ability to prioritize and organize own work load including flexibility in working hours as projects may require;

 

Desirable attributes

•    Experienced in grid connection requirements of TNSP’s and managing AEMO’s requirements;
•    Renewable energy experience, in particular solar PV;
•    Experience in EPC/ EPCM project environment;
•    Internationally recognized project management certification.

Other

•    In addition to the responsibilities described above, the job holder will be required to carry out any other duties in line with his experience, knowledge and ability as assigned;
•    The job holder will be required to travel locally and internationally from time to time;

Control Systems Engineer

Department: juwi Renewable Energy Pty Ltd 

Title of position: Control Systems Engineer

Objectives: As Engineer for hybrid PV plants you will be part of the juwi engineering team, supporting the global hybrid business team with electrical engineering analysis, design, modelling, costing and commissioning.  You will be responsible for all technical queries related to hybrid renewable energy systems works for all phases of the project life cycle.

Primary responsibilities:

  • System specification, design and lay-out of hybrid PV plants, using tools such as AutoCAD
  • Liaise with sales team / clients to understand requirements and run hybrid system sizing and simulations with tools such as Homer Pro, MATLAB and PVSyst
  • Understand technical requirements from RFP documentation
  • Create BOM and SOW for purchasing team and sub-contractors
  • Complete drafting of technical drawings
  • Technical support for proposal preparation
  • Support component evaluation, specification and selection
  • Review contract technical requirements and prepare requirements tracking mechanism
  • Ensure compliance with technical requirements and facilitate close out of open issues
  • Implementation of system design standards and optimisations proposed by International system design and construction teams
  • Document control, maintain engineering folder structure and prepare document registers
  • On-site verification of installation & testing in accordance with design, procedures, Regulations, standards and codes
  • Compliance to juwi standards and to regional standards and regulations
  • Ensure seamless technical documentation of Hybrid PV power plants
  • Technical advisory and technical support for Project Development, Project Management, Operation & Maintenance, Sales and Project Finance department

Candidate requirements

juwi is looking for the following attributes:

  • Registered as a professional engineer or technologist with the Engineering Counsel of Australia
  • Engineering qualification, preferably in electrical engineering
  • Five years’ work experience in Power generation industry, especially in the designing hybrid renewable energy systems 
  • Experience with multi-MW scale projects is preferred
  • In depth knowledge of state of art battery-based energy storage systems technologies
  • Fundamental understanding of hybrid / microgrid control systems and their integration
  • Knowledge of diesel generators and associated controllers
  • Proven experience in generating hybrid system analysis and proposal content
  • Highly proficient in Homer Pro (or similar software)
  • Ability to grasp customer requirements and translate them into simulation inputs
  • Good command of MATLAB, PVSyst and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of PLC programming platforms (EN 61131) is an advantage
  • Excellent command of MS Office
  • Ability to develop electrical single-line diagrams
  • The candidate should have demonstrated the ability to work in matrix organizations and to operate and navigate within an international company
  • Ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail
